A little over a year ago I moved out for the first time, and had to learn how to make my home away from home feel like “home”. Finding joy in interior decorating I absolutely couldn’t wait to vamp up my little apartment in San Jose. What i neglected to think about however, is that cultivating all those curtains, rugs, candles, and canvases is pretty darn expensive! So, once I realized I wouldn’t be able to afford all of the colorful tribal rugs at World Market or the trendy inspirational quote paintings from Target, I sought refuge in the familiar and wonderful world of thrift stores!
Thrifting has always been apart of my life; my mom is the ultimate “treasure” seeker, her finds range from clothes to furniture to dishware and everything in between! With a little patience and an understanding that some items may need some TLC, thrifting truly is a great way to find some really unique items for your home! And not just thrifting. Garage sales, flea markets, and do-it-yourself (DIY) projects are an excellent way to get the styles you want in your home. So, with all of this being said I wanted to share with you guys a few items in my home here in Sonoma that bring me lots joy that didn’t break the bank! In fact, while some of these items were found at thrift stores some were made or constructed by yours truly!

What once was an ugly green stool found at the Goodwill now compliments my vanity with it’s tribal print.

Well, these flowers aren’t a thrift find but I love how much prettier they make my entrance so I couldn’t resist sharing!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my eclectic mix of thrift store, garage sale, flee market, and DIY finds! These little pieces add so much character to my place and make me feel happy to be home. Give it a try, you never know what you may find!
nice post. I like what you did with the wonderful things you found. It’s really true that they give a lot of character to your flat. They are lovely. I must have a fleamarket every Sunday and a thrift shop every Thursday…
